We do not test devices in a lab or claim hands-on use. Every page compiles public, checkable information and links to it.
What we read
- Manufacturer spec sheets and manuals
- FDA 510(k) clearance records (device, cleared indication, K-number)
- Peer-reviewed studies on PubMed
- Owner reviews on retailer sites and forums, summarized as patterns with links
How we read device specs
- Wavelength (nm): red light is usually 630 to 660 nm, near-infrared 810 to 850 nm. We list exact values when the maker publishes them.
- Irradiance (mW/cm²): power reaching the skin. Marked “not published” when the maker does not disclose it.
- FDA 510(k): we write “FDA cleared” only together with the cleared use, the K-number and a link to the FDA record.
- Session time, LED/diode count, warranty, price.
How we rank
When we compare devices, we look at the same points for each one, in this order:
- FDA clearance for the use we discuss, with the K-number and a link to the FDA record.
- Published research on that type of device.
- Specs that matter for results: wavelength, number of lasers or LEDs, session time and schedule.
- Fit, comfort and ease of use, from the brand's documentation and owner reviews.
- Price, warranty and refund terms, checked on the brand's own site.
Each list says who each pick suits best, because the right device depends on your budget, schedule and goals.
What we will not do
- Claim a device treats or cures a medical condition.
- Use self-awarded star ratings.
- Let commission rates decide rankings.
Updates
Every page shows when it was last checked. We recheck prices, specs and codes regularly and update that date when we do.
